Con-artist calico cat creates an alliance with a stray ginger, he breaks into her home, opens her door, allows her to escape, and now the two of them are teasing her owner by chilling right outside the house: 'I know it was him. I just do.'

Yes, she is fixed. Idk about him. But she is. Idk who that tuxedo is. The tux keeps coming up to me on the porch but runs away every time I move. Trying to gain their trust. Story: the great catnapping

It's hot here. As it is everywhere else right now. There is only one window wide open, and that is because it is on the side of the house that only gets one hour of direct sunlight a day, early in the morning, so it is the coldest room in the house at all hours-even with the window open. Natural AC. Keeps the rest of the house cooler than it would be.

Carp (calico, if it wasn't obvious by the name) is usually an escape artist on her own. She is not allowed in that room, and does not ever have access to it. She gets her own space (see: the main house) because she's a snobby princess that spits at the other girls-no violence, just spitting, as a good lady of her esteem should do.

A brief history on her backstory and why she craves the outdoors so much: my ex roommates two years ago abandoned her outside after they moved out, in the de d of winter. Their excuse was that she "always escaped", but that's obviously going to happen if you keep a screenless window on ground level open 24/7 (they removed the screen,

for whatever reason.) She has spent maybe 1/3 of her total life outside, and if not there then confined to a small room with nothing to do, always being yelled at. It took me a little over 4 months to catch her, and only because she was starving and could barely move, seeking refuge on the blanket I leave on the porch.

Still, she craves the outdoors. So I fixed her ASAP, hoping it would calm her down. It did not.

So when this fluffy a orange a man discovered my downstairs window was open― game over. He busted through the screen. Clawed at the carpets. Opened the G D IN DOOR TO THAT ROOM-out she went. I know it was him. I just do.

They've nested under my porch for a week now. All three of them. I guess I have 6 cats now
  • 11
EvlMinion That tux was absolutely involved somehow, even if only as a lookout. They're shifty.
  • 12
creatyvechaos OP You might be onto something. The only reason I figured out they're nesting beneath my porch is because I saw him poke his head out from beneath it and look around—just happened to coincide with me taking the trash out today. He darted out and we stared each other down for a solid minute before the other two ran off as well

boniemonie Is a catio from that window an option?
  • 14
creatyvechaos OP No. The neighbors fence is less than 3 feet away and it would block access to the utilities on that side of the house
  • 15
Silaquix Maybe a catio at another window in the house she can access would be more viable and help keep her content enough to not run off
  • 16
creatyvechaos OP The problem with that is that's the only window downstairs that can be opened—within reason, that is; the other two on the same level are west-facing, and bear the heat of the sun the majority of the day. They need to stay closed, as well as the doors they are attached to, otherwise this poorly insulated house heats up like a bento box—no bueno. And we also rent. Asked about a catio ages ago for my late Papaya, n they said no

creatyvechaos OP YOU KNOW THE FUNNY THING ABOUT THAT EXPRESSION?! That's the "oh sh, I was caught doing something I like" expression she always gives me. Know what she did right after I took this photo? SHE RAN PAST THE ORANGE AND HISSED AT HIM AS SHE DID. Like girl don't even pretend, I know you like that man you aint gotta try to play cool with me, you were literally just purring ☺

creatyvechaos OP My other girls have the other half of the house, which only has access to Carp's through a door. I also don't think those scaredy cats would even dare try to leave ②I have one of them harness trained (Barbecue Smoked Ribs), but anytime I try to take her out to, yknow, use the harness, she climbs the nearest thing (usually me) and tries to launch herself back through the (now closed) door. Been a year of that. And Squishy is....Squishy. No thoughts behind those eyes except love (

creatyvechaos OP Isn't she adorable?!?!? I almost didn't adopt her, because I got her and Beebs at the same time, and Bebe had stolen my heart just a littleeeeee bit more. But my mom convinced me and I pulled money out of savings to do it. No regrets. She lives up to her legal government name (Squishmallow) name in being very squishy, very soft, and very huggable. She lets me bury my face in her belly and it's just blisssssssss ⑨She readies up for belly kisses everytime I come home. Throws a fit

creatyvechaos OP Oh yeah. I mentioned 6 cats. This brings up to 5 shown. Here's the newest addition. I was only going to foster her, but she has bonded to that dog in the picture. Idk if I can bring it in me to separate them. If I ultimately end up keeping her......expect more photodumps from me
